At A Glance

Twisted Tower weapon upgrades are the Ticket sink that turns a carnival toy into a climb tool. Between elevator returns you stop at upgrade kiosks, spend carnival Tickets, and push four tracks — Damage, Ammo, Reload, and Special — on the weapons you already unlocked. This page is the spend-order guide for a first clear, not an invented price sheet: exact Ticket costs stay TBA until measured. Verified August 20, 2026 · Atmos Games / 3D Realms · Steam.

How do Ticket upgrade kiosks work?

Twisted Tower treats upgrades as a between-floor economy, not an open-world shop sprawl. You gather Tickets while climbing, then cash them at a kiosk when you can safely leave combat. Demo and media coverage consistently show a dedicated Weapon Upgrade Kiosk surface with per-weapon tiers rather than a single global damage slider.

Tickets come from more than kills

Mascots drop Tickets, but so do smashable carnival props, side rooms, and many of the 20+ secret areas covered on secrets. If you only farm hallway trash, you will underfund upgrades before Clown Casino. Pair combat looting with one secret sweep per floor when the walkthrough marks a quiet beat.

You can only upgrade what you unlocked

Kiosks do not conjure the ray gun early. Unlock order still follows the climb and toy gates — see weapons and toys. The upgrade page answers “how to spend,” not “how to find every gun.”

Once a gun is on the wheel, the four tracks below are the only confirmed spend axes from demo-facing coverage.

What do Damage, Ammo, Reload, and Special actually buy?

Public demo notes call out four upgrade directions. Treat them as orthogonal investments: Damage raises hit payoff, Ammo thickens the magazine, Reload shortens downtime, and Special improves the weapon’s unique trick (exact per-gun Specials — including any homing-style claims in early notes — stay TBA until logged).

TrackPlayer-facing effectBest when…Weak when…
DamageMore damage per shot / burstBoss gates and tanky mascotsYou already miss most shots — fix aim/position first
AmmoLarger clip / reserve comfortAutomatic weapons and panic spraysYou never empty a magazine before a snack break
ReloadFaster magazine swapsShotguns and stop-and-pop mid-rangeYou only fire three rounds then swap weapons anyway
SpecialWeapon unique / alt-fire payoffYou already stabilize Damage + AmmoBought first as a novelty on a dry primary

Damage is the honest first buy on a carry gun

First climbs punish soft DPS more than missing a flashy Special. One Damage tier on a tommy gun or shotgun usually saves more Tickets than three cosmetic Specials across guns you barely fire. Keep a mental note of which mascot still takes too many hits — that is your cue for another Damage tick before the next bosses checkpoint.

Ammo and Reload are survival tracks

Ammo Capacity and Reload Speed show up together in demo writeups for a reason: automatic toys eat clips during Huggee Bear chases, and shotgun loops live or die on chamber time. If you die while staring at a reload animation more than you die to raw HP deficit, spend Reload before another Damage tier.

Special is the late multiplier

Special Attack upgrades are the “unique features” bucket — bullet-time style payoffs on the tommy gun are the classic example from early coverage. They shine after the gun already deletes trash. Buying Special on a weapon you will shelve after Hotel is a classic Ticket leak.

Exact numeric deltas stay TBA; use the priority section for order, not fake percentages.

What should I upgrade first on a first climb?

Default first-climb order: stabilize one mid-range carry, keep a melee panic option unreworked, and delay prestige guns until Waterpark tickets feel comfortable. Exact costs are TBA, so think in ranks rather than prices.

  • Do01Unlock and identify your mid-range carry on the weapons page
  • Do02Buy Damage on that carry before touching Special on anything else
  • Do03Add Ammo if you empty clips during Hotel mascot rooms
  • Do04Add Reload if shotgun / stop-and-pop is your loop
  • Do05Bank a reserve for the upcoming level boss instead of maxing early toys
  • Do06Only then dip into Special or a second weapon’s Damage line

Melee stays cheap on purpose

The Whack-a-Mole Mallet (and other close tools) are panic and breakable-clear tools. Dumping early Tickets into mallet Special rarely beats one Damage tier on a dart tommy gun when Mr Quackers opens with shotgun pressure. See enemies for why mid-range matters.

Two-gun rule of thumb

Own many toys; fund two. A mid-range primary plus a close panic option covers most rooms until Forest / Space Station escalate. Everything else can sit at base until you farm Ticket Titan numbers or chase achievements.

When should I bank Tickets vs spend between levels?

Each themed floor ends in a boss check that tests your current kit. Spending every Ticket the moment you find a kiosk can leave you unable to buy the one Damage tier that turns a ten-minute arena into a three-minute arena.

Boss gates are the real price tags

Until HP and Ticket costs are measured, treat each level boss as a soft soft-lock check: if the previous elite mascots already emptied two magazines per kill, buy Ammo before you enter the arena. Cross-check bosses for prep habits without invented phase scripts.

Secrets refund the plan

A single secret room can repay a Damage tier. When a hallway looks too empty, backtrack once with a different toy before you declare the floor “farmed out.” The secrets page covers hunt habits; this page just reminds you that Tickets and secrets share a wallet.

How do alternate-fire upgrades fit the spend plan?

Many arsenal toys ship with a secondary fire. Achievement text also tracks Alt Fire Fiend (upgrade every available alternate fire) and Weapon Wizard (max all weapons), so Alt Fire is a real long-term sink — just not the first-climb priority.

Weapon WizardMax every track on every weaponUsually Adventure Plus or dedicated farm
Speedy SpreeOnly carry Damage + ReloadSkip cosmetic Specials
No-Death DaredevilAmmo + Reload comfort on carrySpecial only if it creates safer space

Special vs Alt Fire naming

Coverage sometimes blurs “Special Attack” upgrades and secondary-fire upgrades. Until a patch notes dump clarifies the UI labels, treat anything marked Special / Alt / unique on the kiosk as the prestige track, and keep it behind primary stability. If two rows exist, buy the one that helps the fire mode you actually hold down in combat.

Planner stub for later math

When costs are logged, the ticket planner stub becomes the place to compute “Damage Lv.2 → Lv.3 vs Ammo Lv.1.” Until then, use the checklists on this page and the combat habits on tips.

Which upgrade mistakes waste the most Tickets?

Most wasted banks come from novelty shopping, not from “wrong” Damage math. Fix the habits below before you blame RNG drops.

  • Do01Do not max Special on a gun you fire for ten seconds in Hotel
  • Do02Do not spread one Ticket trickle across five base weapons
  • Do03Do not enter a level boss broke because you bought a third toy’s Ammo
  • Do04Do not ignore snacks and positioning while dumping Tickets into Damage only
  • Do05Do not chase Weapon Wizard on the same save as No-Death Daredevil unless you already cleared once
  • Do06Do not invent community “best DPS” numbers — mark unknowns TBA and re-verify after patches

Novelty tax

Ray guns and late toys look like the answer to every mascot. They are not free. A funded shotgun that you understand usually beats an unfunded prestige gun you panic-swap into. Unlock freely; fund deliberately.

Completionist tax

Secret Safari, Ticket Titan, Alt Fire Fiend, and Weapon Wizard all compete for attention. Sequence them: first clear with a stable carry → secrets pass → upgrade completion. See achievements and adventure-plus for NG+ timing.

If you only remember one rule: Tickets buy consistency on the gun you already trust.
